Province announces plans to sell pot

The sale of recreational cannabis in Manitoba will take place in private businesses, but will be controlled by the provincial government. This hybrid retail and distribution model was announced by Manitoba premier Brian Pallister on Nov. 7.

Winning weekend for Neepawa Natives

While the Neepawa Natives picked up a pair of home wins at the Yellowhead Centre over the weekend, the manner in which they achieved those victories was decidedly different from game to game. First, the team collected a hard fought 5-4 shootout victory against the Selkirk Steelers on Friday, Nov. 17. The next night was not quite as dramatic, as the Natives dominated the Dauphin Kings, on the way to an 8-2 win.

Neepawa has received recognition for its involvement with “What’s the Big Idea?”. Earlier this month, Portage la Prairie hosted the Economic Developers Association of Manitoba (EDAM) fall forum. EDAM was formed in 1993 to improve communication, contact and liaison within the economic development profession.

Kenton's Remembrance Day service

People gathered at Kenton Memorial Hall on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 10:45 a.m. for the Remembrance Day service, held to honour and remember those who served and are serving today for our freedom. Pianist for the morning was Eileen Kent; emcee was Kenton Legion Branch No. 118 President Mike Ramsden. He welcomed everyone and told us Shilo soldiers were not in attendance, due to bad weather the night before. Everyone sang O Canada.
