Fatal vehicle accident has connection to Rivers

Brandon RCMP were called at 11:45 a.m. on Friday, June 16 to respond to a motor vehicle accident on Hwy. 10 just north of the Brookdale turnoff, or PR 353. A short 15 minutes later, Rivers/Daly Fire Department was paged by Rapid City’s department for a mutual aid request; Rivers/Daly used its jaws of life to extricate the deceased driver.

Rivers Comets are heading into the stretch drive of the South West Baseball League schedule and had themselves a busy time with three games this past week. They first faced Oak River Dodgers on Thursday, June 15 in a make up game for a second rained-out game scheduled the night prior. Despite an outstanding complete game pitching performance from Ryan Shaw, Dodgers scored the game-winning run in the bottom of seventh off a sacrifice fly; this edged out the Comets by a score of 2-1. Aaron Tycoles had a pair of hits to pace the offence at this game in Oak River.

Neepawa Natives seeking assistant coach for 2017-2018 season

There may soon be a new face behind the bench alongside Neepawa Natives head coach Dustin Howden. The MJHL club has released a call for resumes for the position of assistant coach for the 2017-2018 season. Ryan Menei served in that role last year, but needs to step away due to family related commitments.

Rotary helps with upgrades to Ag Complex

With the summer season underway, visitors to the Beautiful Plains Agricultural Society Complex might have noticed a much needed update.  This spring, members of the Neepawa Rotary Club were busy upgrading the bathrooms at the local site, which not only hosts agricultural events, but also baseball games and the Neepawa Fair.
