The junior varsity boys basketball season has tipped off for the Neepawa Tigers, with an impressive 78-54 win over the William Morton Warriors.

Madeline Ferguson’s life hasn’t been what anyone would describe as easy. Ferguson grew up in a Métis family during the dirty ‘30s. From there, her life was a nearly constant uphill battle.

Despite the hardships, Ferguson never let the bad overshadow the good. Always focusing on the silver lining, she considers her life a good one. “I’m blessed, very blessed,” she expressed.

Neepawa town council: big plans for the Flats

Photo by Eoin Devereux. The Town of Neepawa has hired a design and consulting firm to develop a master plan for the development of the Flats in Neepawa. Councillors also raised the idea of giving the area a more formal name.

A consultant has been selected to help the Town of Neepawa with the development of the Flats. Council has approved working with Stantec, a Winnipeg based design and consulting firm on creation of a conceptual master plan. Stantec and another firm, WSP Consulting, both bid for the consulting services proposal with Stantec coming in with the lower bid at $8,500.

80 years ago, Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1936

There were no decisions of great importance made at the school board meeting Friday night. The offer of the Dominion Postal Department to supply pictures for a night’s entertainment was favourably received and plans were made to have a showing early in the New Year. Two new flags are to be purchased and the matter of buying some new chairs for the collegiate and auditorium will be further considered.
