With a keynote speech focusing on support, the Neepawa and District Chamber of Commerce welcomed the new year at their annual general meeting last week. Held Jan. 27, the evening event attracted about 70 members of Neepawa’s business community.

The Neepawa Tigers played the role of spoiler this past weekend, severely hindering the Killarney Raiders’ late season push for first place in the Westman High School Hockey League. Three goals in a 2:28 span in the third period catapulted Neepawa Area Collegiate Institute (NACI) to a 5-3 win on Sunday, Jan. 31 at the Yellowhead Centre.

Neepawa Natives junior A hockey club
Over the next week, Neepawa Natives defencemen Jared Pelechaty will gain some valuable experience in the Western Hockey League. The Seattle Thunderbirds, who have Pelechaty’s Canadian Hockey League (CHL) playing rights, have called up the 17-year-old Winnipeg product to aid the club.
