Library archives are growing

Last year Prairie Crocus Regional Library was the recipient of a grant from Rivers & Area Community Foundation to begin an archival materials project. The goal of this project is to organize and preserve the history of Rivers and our community. To this end, a room in the library (upstairs) has been reserved as the place where our history will be preserved, organized and available for the public to view.

Ryan Kostenchuk (7) had an opportunity against Minnedosa on Friday, Nov. 6, during  the team’s Westman High School Hockey League home opener, but was stopped by the Chancellors defence. Minnedosa would take advantage of its opportunities though, on the way to a 5-1 victory. The following night in Dauphin, the Tigers would fall to the Clippers by the score of 14-3.

River Police Chief

Rivers Police Service had 57 calls in October; eight of them were in the Criminal Code category. There were two thefts under $5,000 (24 to date in 2015), three properties damaged (13), one fraud (22) and two various other crimes such as breaches, public mischief, harassing phone calls, etc. (19). In total to date there have been 88 Criminal Code cases in 2015 which include four sexual offences, four assaults, one other violent crime (extortion, threats, etc.) and one break and enter.
