Snowmobile accident claims a life

An accident some nine miles southeast of Rivers claimed the life of Marty Ramsey of Oak River. Police officers, fire department members and fellow snowmobilers met on Sunday, Mar. 11 at 5:00 p.m. at the scene of the very unhappy event.

Last November, Riverdale Municipality held an informational meeting to hear from ratepayers their questions and concerns regarding a new police services bylaw council proposed. More than 75 people attended that public hearing, so council set 117 chairs in Rivers Legion Hall for a follow-up meeting on Feb. 27; only 16 people plus council and WCG-TV/newspaper reporters attended.

Tuesday, March 8, 1938
The local Pee Wee hockey team travelled to Gladstone on Saturday to put on an exhibition game at the carnival held there that night. The boys had a glorious outing and came home victorious winning 4-2. Raymond Baroni was the scoring star on the local squad, being responsible for three counters, while Lloyd Whiteman made the fourth click.

Science students saving soup

We are the Grade 12 IDS (Interdisciplinary Studies in Science) class at Rivers Collegiate and we are planning to organize a food drive. Our goal during this project is to collect a boat load of food for Riverdale Harvest. The Grade 10 outdoor ed class will also be assisting us in the collection of non-perishable food items.
