Confidential documents reported in April shows the Pallister government was interested in privatizing the government’s air service branch. This past week the government press conference stated they are exploring the option of privatizing both services.

Massive tornado strikes Alonsa area

When the Alonsa tornado was officially upgraded to a Level Four storm, it wasn’t really a surprise to those who experienced it. The massive tornado, which tore through the communities of Alonsa, Silver Ridge, and Margaret Bruce Beach on Friday, Aug. 4, has now been categorized by Environment Canada officials as an EF-4, making it the strongest tornado confirmed this year in all of North America.

Neepawa’s most prominent writer is receiving some well deserved national recognition. On Friday, Aug. 10, a plaque will be unveiled at the Margaret Laurence House, designating the author as a Person of National Historic Significance.

It was a wonderful day. By pushing buttons and turning dials, three loads were drying on the line by ten of the a.m. I could have pushed more buttons and turned more dials and dried all the clothing, bedding and towels inside. However, I love the scent of sun dried items and my favourite tees and sweaters last much longer when line dried, or laid flat on the clothes horse.
