Local author and sports historian Rick Sparling attempts to locate and catch up with the teams featured in Amateur Hockey in Neepawa: A Scrapbook.
Janice Walker (Barker/Stock) moved to British Columbia in 1969, after working at various secretary jobs in Manitoba post high school. She worked for 23 years for the school district in Vernon. Janice is single and has three daughters and five grandchildren. She enjoys walking, reading and watching the grandkids playing their various sports. She also enjoys feeding the grandkids her baking. Janice still lives in Vernon, B.C.

Manitoba Ag Days: Building on 40 years of success

The City of Brandon is looking excitedly ahead to the 40th anniversary of Manitoba Ag Days, going so far as to officially proclaim Jan. 17-19 “Manitoba Ag Days”. But it’s not just Brandonites that are gearing up for the big event -- people from all over the province, the country and even the United States will be flocking to the Keystone Centre to take part in the historic event, including over 550 exhibitors and 60 speakers, including CBC’s Terry O’Reilly, the Little Potato Company’s Angela Santiago, Oil World’s Thomas Mielke, World Weather Inc’s Drew Learner and more. In addition, 17 new products will be marketed at the show this year, all revolving around the theme “Agriculture -- Think Global, Act Local”.

2016 a fatal year on Manitoba highways

Manitoba Public Insurance is issuing a renewed call to road safety action for all road users in 2017, after recording the deadliest year on Manitoba highways in a decade. Based on preliminary data, in 2016 there were 101 fatal collisions on public roadways in Manitoba which resulted in the deaths of 112 people. These numbers contrast with 69 collisions and 78 fatalities in 2015.
