Chiefs tame Wild, get struck by Lightning

The Yellowhead AAA Midget Chiefs spilt a pair of road games over the weekend, but not in the order that some fans had likely expected them to. Yellowhead upended the league’s top team, the Winnipeg Wild on Saturday, Nov. 12, by the score of 3-2. But the next night, the Chiefs were shocked by one of the worst clubs on the circuit, the Interlake Lightning, by that same 3-2 result.
Offence remains a concern for Neepawa

Justin Metcalf (11) leads the Neepawa Natives in goals this season with nine. That’s just over 19 per cent of the club’s total goals over the first 20 games.

Despite their best efforts, scoring consistency continues to be a problem for the Neepawa Natives. In their past eight games, the MJHL club has been held to a single goal or less on five separate occasions, resulting in a 1-7-0 record. While the latest result was a 4-3 loss to the Winnipeg Blues on Sunday, Nov. 13, that game’s offensive output has become the exception as opposed to the rule.
