A strong start by the Neepawa Natives helped to power the team to a 3-1 win over the Virden Oil Capitals on Wednesday, Oct. 19. McCreary’s Reigan Buchanan lead the charge, by opening up the scoring just 53 seconds into the game. Justin Metcalf followed that up with his seventh goal and 13th point of the season with 6:02 remaining in the first period, providing Neepawa with a 2-0 advantage after the first 20 minutes of play.

The Yellowhead Midget Chiefs first road trip of the regular season was a mixed bag of results, as the team went 1-1-1 during a three game in three night weekend. The club’s first two games were in Kenora, as the Chiefs challenged the Thistles on Friday, Oct. 14 and Saturday, Oct. 15. The first night was a successful one for Yellowhead, as they secured the 7-4 win. Ryan Heino of Minnedosa earned four points (two goals - two assists), while St. Lazare’s Eric Lemoine added four assists in the victory. Reese Jones picked up the win, stopping 24 of the 28 shots he faced.

The figure of $69 million was touted as being what was invested in the plant to buy it and improve it. Could be. We do know that the waste water treatment plant, E3, cost about $20 million. We do know that Itochu of Japan paid about $60 million for a one third interest a few years back. But $125 million, that tops them all.
