PUB revises water charges for Rivers

On June 15, Public Utilities Board (PUB) travelled to Rivers to hear ratepayer opinions regarding Riverdale Municipality’s plan to increase utility rates by as much as 230 per cent (though that increase would only amount to $5.20 more than the current fee of $2.26, to $7.46). While PUB has up to two months to issue their order, they reached their decision in six weeks and issued the following directive on Tuesday, July 27.

Despite Mother Nature’s best effort to cool down the bats of the Neepawa Farmers on Tuesday, July 28, the team was able to overcome the elements on the way to a 7-1 win over the Brandon Marlins. Daylon Creasy lead Neepawa at the plate, going 2-for-3 and getting 4 RBI during the seven inning, rain shortened game. Ian Hockin, Travis Jean and Brady Moxam all added a single RBI to help the Farmers to the win.

Drug and weapons bust in Neepawa

A recent Spruce Plains RCMP search warrant has netted a pair of arrests connected to drugs, cash and a prohibited weapon. On July 26, 2015, the Spruce Plains RCMP executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence in Neepawa. As a result of the search warrant, officers seized 4.5 ounces of cocaine, a prohibited weapon and near $6000 in cash.

MIT replacing lights at Mountain & Hamilton

Workers with Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation are taking down the lights at the intersection of Mountain and Hamilton in Neepawa. Four way stop signs are in place to coordinate traffic while the work is underway. The lights are set to be replaced.
