COVID-19 daily updates - Monday, May 4

1:07 p.m. Zero new COVID-19 cases in Manitoba today.

Public health officials advise no new cases of COVID-19 have been identified as of 9:30 a.m. today. The total number of lab-confirmed positive and probable positive cases in Manitoba remains at 281.

The data also shows:
•    five individuals are currently hospitalized, with no individuals in intensive care; 
•    37 active cases and 238 individuals who have recovered from COVID-19; and
•    the number of deaths due to COVID-19 remains at six.

As of yesterday, an additional 642 laboratory tests were performed. This brings the total number of tests performed since early February to 27,446.

Right in the centre - CO2 levels may cause crop production cutbacks

The Winnipeg Free Press ran an article on Tuesday. It was a good enough article on its own merits. It states that Carbon Dioxide (CO2) levels are up, but… it’s a rather shallow article. The last year they have stats for is 2018. Results for 2019 and 2020 don’t seem to be available yet.

As I type this column in an empty room, dealing with the isolation as best I can, I still don’t know the answers and most likely, neither do you.
