The Killarney Shamrocks didn’t need to rely on luck to win the Tiger Hills Hockey League (THHL) championship. Instead, the top seed from the western division used its speed and skill to outpace the eastern division champs, the Carberry Plainsmen, eventually winning the best-of-five final three games to one.

A family and community has had its chance to say goodbye to Chase Martens. A funeral service for the two-year-old, who had gone missing the previous week, was held on  March 30 at the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church in MacGregor, MB. The youngster’s body was found on  March 26, after a massive search effort began on  March 22.

Neepawa’s own Halli Krzyzaniak, along with Meaghan Mikkelson (St. Albert, Alta.), each scored a pair of goals, sparking Team Canada to an 8-1 victory over the Russia National Team at the 2016 IIHF Women’s World Championship.That victory, on Tuesday, Mar. 29, evened the Canadians’ record at 1-1, while the Russians dropped to the bottom of Group A at 0-2.

Around 100 young prospects hit the ice at the Yellowhead Arena this past weekend, looking to make a lasting impression on the management and scouting staff of the Neepawa Natives. The Manitoba Junior Hockey League team hosted its annual spring evaluation camp from Mar. 25 to 27.
