Taylor a top contender

Ten-year-old Taylor Bridgeman of Rivers first heard about gymnastics through a friend and based on that peer review, she expressed an interest to try. Parents Marty and Kat Bridgeman agreed and she began Just for Fun in September 2011 at the age of six. The following year she had already moved to the regional stream as a beginner gymnast. Year three (September 2013) she was part of Manitoba’s regional team, which is by invitation only and is based on meeting compulsory skills. At the April 2014 provincial championship (part of year three) she was first all-around gymnast.

Skating club revived in Rivers

Rivers Women’s Institute was responsible for organizing a figure skating club in this town in 1951. The club continued until early 2005 when its last skating carnival was held. In November 2011 a 10-week Learn to Skate program was co-ordinated by Corina Lepp. Its success was so great the program was held each year until September 2015 when the group re-named itself Rivers Skating Club, based on parental comments.

Rivers Midgets manage provincial win

Five Chiefs selected as MFMHL All Stars

Five members of the Yellowhead Chiefs have been selected to the 2015-2016 Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League All Star teams.  The players are selected in a vote by the head coaches of all eight teams.
