Manitoba’s best coaches were recently recognized for their leadership and a familiar local name was amongst those that were honoured. John Csversko of Neepawa recently received the Global News Active for Life Award at the 2018 Coaching Manitoba Impact Awards in Winnipeg. Csversko was recognized for his dedication and contributions to the sport of curling.

My heart is troubled. We have lost many lives this past month through accidents and willful destruction. And with many others I say “why?” Young people’s lives were cut short. Moms and Dads lost part of their family. It is heartbreaking. Some are still in hospital and may be scarred for life.

April 28, 1999 was the day Rev. Dale Lang’s world changed forever. It started with a phone call. The message was short: “Jason (Lang’s 17 year old son) has been shot.” As Lang would later share: “I didn’t ask any questions. I didn’t need to. I knew it was serious.” It was, in fact, very serious. Jason subsequently died from his wounds.

Robert Sopuck, Member of Parliament for Dauphin-Swan River-Neepawa will not be running in the next federal election. Sopuck who is in his third term as MP, made the announcement Saturday morning at the DSRN constituency annual meeting for the Conservative Party of Canada.
