Sears outlet returning to Neepawa

It’s official, a Sears outlet will be reopening in Neepawa this fall.  Local business owner Maureen Turner signed the papers last week that will see her take over the Sears catalogue business in Neepawa.

Neepawa’s Terry Fox Run a huge success

About 85 people took to the streets of Neepawa on Sunday to be a part of the annual Terry Fox Run. Kelly Krzyzaniak, the local Run Coordinator said about $7600 was brought in from the day, which raises money for cancer research and celebrates the memory of Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope. Krzyzaniak noted that’s unofficially about $1500 more than was brought in 2013.

Nearly four years have passed since the last municipal election, but this Oct. 22 when voters go to the polls, locals will have to deal with changes. The province forced municipalities with fewer than 1,000 residents to amalgamate to create larger areas and thus, Town of Rivers and RM of Daly will become RM of Riverdale. RMs of Blanshard, Saskatchewan and Town of Rapid City will become RM of Oakview. Councils will still have seven representatives, and candidates had to file papers by Tuesday, Sept. 16. They have until Sept. 17 at 4 p.m. to withdraw their intent but that time is nearly 24 hours past this newspaper’s deadline and approximately two hours after it has been sent to the printer. Therefore the following information is subject to change, but is as accurate as we can possibly report.

Swan Valley defeats Neepawa in RMFL play

The NACI Tigers have dropped to 1-2 on the season in the Rural Manitoba Football League after a 32-20 loss to the Swan Valley Tigers on Monday. Head Coach Dave Clark said the team started off a bit slow but was able to gain some late momentum after establishing its running game, which accumulated 215 yards and three touchdowns.
