Local artist paintings on display

Self-taught artist Ina Hyndman of Rivers was invited to by Midwest Arts Council to participate in a month-long showing of her paintings at Hamiota Heritage Arts Centre. Ina has participated in galleries for more than 20 years and her work is so excellent that some have been bought by the government for Manitoba’s provincial art collection, and by Manitoba Liquor Commission. She is also regularly commissioned to paint specific scenes.

Yellowhead "AAA" Chiefs prepare for season

Some of the best young talent in our region was on the ice in Shoal Lake, hoping to earn a spot with the Yellowhead Chiefs, as the Manitoba Midget AAA Hockey League team held its annual training camp last weekend. Head Coach Chad Facey said the number of players participating was down from what they’ve seen in previous years but the skill level was not.

Afghanistan Memorial open to public

Canadian Armed Forces Base Shilo is marking more than 12 years of service in Afghanistan with a memorial vigil. It remembers and honours those who have fallen during the conflict. The Afghanistan memorial Vigil is open to the public at 2PPCLI Caserne Kapyong Barrack. CFB Shilo.

Neepawa Natives pleased with results from "Drive for 500"

There was a call to action from the Neepawa Natives earlier this year and the community responded in a big way. The MJHL club handed out 303 season ticket passes to fans on Monday evening at the Yellowhead Centre, as part of its “Drive for 500” campaign.
